BMT NU NGASEM INSTITUTE Facilitates School Partners (SMK N NGASEM) to Learn about Utilizing Waste into Organic Fertilizer and Pesticides

Ngasem, 20 September 2023 - BMT NU NGASEM INSTITUTE, one of the Divisions at BMT NU Ngasem which is dedicated to economic and environmental development, has carried out valuable initiatives in an effort to educate local communities about the importance of sustainable waste management. In close collaboration with the NGASEM State Vocational School, we have facilitated a series of training and workshops on how to convert waste into organic fertilizer and pesticides that are beneficial for local agriculture with a competent resource person, Mr. Nardi, a former Petrochemical Employee, National Organic Fertilizer Companion, and Member of LPPNU NGASEM.

Waste is a global problem that continues to become increasingly serious, and the BMT NU NGASEM INSTITUTE has decided to take constructive action in dealing with this problem with an approach educational. Through a partnership with the Ngasem State Vocational School, they organized this activity and also the UTS which was packaged in an innovative way, learning in the open which aims to increase students' awareness, especially among the community in general, of the importance of wise waste management.

This activity involved students and teachers of the NGASEM State Vocational School, Department of Industrial Chemistry and was also attended by Mr. Imam Sujianto, Supervisor of the Bojonegoro Regency Vocational School Education Service, not forgetting Mr. Sholihin from the Head of District Government Section Ngasem.

In a series of workshops which took place in two different places, at the Ngasem District Office and Sambong Village. Students are taught how to identify, sort and manage organic waste. Apart from that, they also received practical training on how to convert waste into high quality organic fertilizer and pesticides.

Mr Dwi Febrian Putra, as from BMT NU NGASEM INSTITUTE, stated, "We are very proud of this collaboration and believe that education is the key to changing the behavior of students in general in facing today's environmental challenges. By providing knowledge and practical skills to students, we hope to create a sustainable positive impact in waste management, so that waste is no longer a problem, but something that we can use to in the future."

This program is a clear example of how collaboration between educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and the community can create a positive impact in supporting environmental sustainability. BMT NU NGASEM INSTITUTE hopes that this initiative will be an inspiration for other institutions to contribute to solutions to increasingly pressing environmental problems.
