"There is no NU MWC in Indonesia that annually manages more than 1 billion for Jam'iyyah operations and independence, except for the NU Ngasem Bojonegoro MWC from the BMT NU Ngasem Group Cooperative Holding Contribution." — President Director of the BMTNU Ngasem Cooperative Holding
BOJONEGORO — The BMTNU Ngasem Cooperative Holding was officially launched as a new milestone in the transformation of a modern Nahdlatul Ulama-based cooperative. From initial capital of only IDR 67 million in 2012, BMTNU Ngasem has now been transformed into a cooperative holding with assets of hundreds of billions of rupiah and integrated business units from the financial, retail, production and service sectors.
This was conveyed directly by the President Director of the BMTNU Ngasem Cooperative Holding in his remarks at the holding launch ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia Hj. Faridah Farikhah, M.Si., Deputy Regent of Bojonegoro Dra. Hj. Nurul Azizah, M.M., local government officials, security forces, NU figures, as well as leaders of large national cooperatives.
Four Primary Cooperatives, One Integrated Holding
The President Director explained that this holding houses four primary cooperatives. First, Sharia Savings and Loans and Financing Cooperative (KSPPS) which has been the forerunner of BMTNU Ngasem since 2012 and is now targeting assets of IDR 1 trillion.
Second, consumer cooperative through the NU Supermarket network which has many branches and is proven to be able to compete with national modern retail, even recording two to three times more visits.
Third, cooperative producerthat manages Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK) with distribution to more than 20 districts. Fourth, service cooperatives with more than 10 business units, ranging from male and female barbershops, reflexology, cupping, cafes, gyms, swimming pools, hotels, to ballrooms with a capacity of 1,000 people.
"All of these business units are not just businesses, but economic ecosystems for members for members," he stressed.
Real Contribution to NU and Society
Not only growing in business, BMTNU Ngasem Cooperative Holding also recorded significant social contributions. Every year, this cooperative sets aside billions of rupiah for Nahdlatul Ulama, including supporting the operations of PCNU, MWC, and community activities.
With this contribution, MWC NU Ngasem has superior programs. One of the superior programs is free ambulance service, which has served around 2,800 patients per year at no cost. Apart from that, BMTNU Ngasem also established a health clinic intended for the wider community.
"Two ambulances at MWC NU Ngasem take patients to the hospital every day, free of charge. The drivers are paid a salary, the operations are covered by contributions from the BMT NU Ngasem Group Cooperative Holding," said the President Director, greeted by applause from the audience.
Towards a World Cooperative Without Leaving Values Behind

During this momentum, BMTNU Ngasem Cooperative Holding also launched a strategic collaboration with Vivo Indonesia to provide digital devices for cooperative members, as part of accelerating digital transformation.
The big theme of the event, “Transformation of Modern Cooperatives: From Members to Cooperatives World”, is said to be the future direction of NU cooperatives—modern, professional, globally competitive, but still based on the values of togetherness, justice and shared prosperity.
“This transformation does not abandon the values of cooperatives, in fact it strengthens them so that they are able to respond to the challenges of the times," concluded the President Director.
